This year's 2nd Annual mini YL DXpedition to Kelleys Island, OH was held on Sept. 12-14, 1997 and was nothing like the first one. In fact, it was a complete opposite. While last year, it rained all three days. This year there was nothing but sunshine and a cool breeze. We had 2 HF rigs, a 2m allmode, 6 meter and ran both voice and cw. Below is a brief summary of this year's activity.
A dozen or so Belles and Beaus enjoyed late summer, severe clear weather; the kind of days to make Spring envious. On Saturday night, the camp was raided by several Boy Scouts for an impromptu flashlight battle. About 100 contacts were logged. All the participants can boast of having been served by the worst waitress in the western hemisphere. On the return ferry trip, N8CPA, was bombed twice by disgruntled sea-gulls while not wearing his hat.
A special certificate has been made up for this activity and went out on 20 Nov. 1997.
So maybe we'll see some new faces next year at the 2nd Annual mini YL
DXpedition to Kelleys Island or get to work you on the air.
